The Baptism of Adults is done in accordance with the norms of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Sacrament of Marriage: Please make arrangements with the pastor at least six months in advance. Eucharist and Reconciliation: Usually are received in grade two. Those who are older can participate in a special Sacramental Class offered every year. Classes begin in August and end in May. Confirmation: Confirmation is a 2 year course of study offered in the Sophomore/Junior year of High School. A special course, the RCIA, is also available for adults seeking Confirmation. Sacrament of the Sick: The Pastor will visit and anoint the sick, according to pastoral practice, as requested. It is important to be able to pray and visit the sick before they enter the hospital. The Archdiocese of San Antonio has Catholic chaplains assigned to most local hospitals. Please contact the hospital's chaplain for the daily Eucharist and for the immediate reception of the Sacrament of the Sick. Home Visits to the Sick: Eucharist will be brought to the homebound by a Minister to the Sick or by the Pastor. First Fridays are special days to bring Communion to the sick. Please call the parish office for help needed. Penance Services: Seasonally scheduled during Advent and Lent. The type, dates, time, and place will be posted in the parish bulletin. Celebration of Resurrection, Order of Christian Funeral: Consult with the Pastor. Vigil Service (wake), Mass of Resurrection, and grave-side services are planned between priest and immediate family members, and coordinated by the funeral home. Renewal of Marriage Vows/Blessing of Marriage: An appointment with the priest is required prior to setting the date and time. Mass Intentions: Masses for special intentions, and Masses for the dead may be requested from the Parish office. Mass cards are provided. Prayers for the Sick: Prayers for sick parishioners and members of their families may be requested by calling the parish office. These petitions will be offered during daily mass and the Sunday Liturgies.Parish Registration Membership: A registered "parishioner of the Saint Rose of Lima community is a person who has registered with the parish. Usually parishioners reside within the geographic boundaries of the parish. Those who live within parish boundaries but choose not to register are considered "non-registered parishioners" of the parish. They may be registered in some other parish of their choice. By registering in the Parish, members take upon themselves the task of building up the community through their sharing of time, talent and treasure which is Christian stewardship. They are also entitled to all the Parish services and opportunities available to themselves and their family members who reside with them. The Parish will give letters of recommendation and certificates only to registered parishioners. Parish registration is needed for: enrollment in the Religious Education Program, the Catholic Youth Organization Sports Program, reception of special sacraments, celebration of special occasions such as quinceaneras, and for the use and reservation of parish facilities. Registration of new families is accomplished by filling out a registration card and can be done any time by coming to the parish office.
